Rachel Gilgoff M.D. is a board-certified Child Abuse Pediatrician at the Center for Child Protection at Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. She received a B.A. in Comparative Literature and Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California Berkeley. She completed medical school at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. Deciding that she wanted to help and treat children, she went to Children’s Hospital & Research Center at Oakland to complete her internship and residency in Pediatrics. She then completed a joint fellowship in Child Abuse and Neglect at Children’s Hospital & Research Center at Oakland and the University of California, Davis Medical Center.
Her research and professional interests broadly include child physical abuse, abusive head trauma, child abuse prevention, and improving general and mental health care for foster children.
